Inter Miami CF will host the New England Revolution in their last game of the regular MLS season. With a win, the Herons can break the MLS points record currently held by their opponents. Both teams have something to play for and a fascinating game awaits us.
The Herons have already clinched the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and are huge favourites to win the MLS Cup as well. They will start their MLS Cup playoffs next week and a win will certainly boost their confidence.
New England Revolution on the other hand missed out the knockout phase of Major League Soccer as they are currently sitting on the 14th spot in the Eastern Conference, nine points behind the playoff spot. The club lost five out of their last seven games and have conceded 68 goals in the league season. In his first full season with the Revs, Caleb Porter has faced nothing but disappointment as this is one of the worst seasons in the club’s entire history.
The rise of Inter Miami and the fall of the New England Revolution has been one of the major stories of MLS this season. Inter went from finishing 14th to winning the Supporters’ Shield whereas the Revs have dropped down nine spots on the table compared to last season.
